Since 1984, Inter-City Services, Inc. (ICS) has provided comprehensive employment training and job placement services to thousands of Bay Area residents. We combine traditional content-based education with hands-on classroom training and cutting-edge computer technology. In our opinion, this combination is a necessary, viable, and effective approach for success in today's business world. ICS strongly believes that business and community partnerships are the key to a thriving society. With our focus on accomplishment through the constant pursuit of excellence, our main objectives are to instill workplace character values: a sense of pride and professionalism, dignity, respect, integrity, and excellence throughout our diverse student body.
ICS is a non-profit, tax exempt, public benefit, charitable corporation 501(c)(3). Our training programs and services are available to all qualifying adults, as we are an equal opportunity training institute. We also meet the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

Training
ICS Workforce Training Institute offers classroom training in Office Automation/Word Processing, A+ Preparation, Computer Repair, and General Education Development Preparation (GED). ICS has developed a reputation of delivering "excellence in training" due to our successful job placement track record in the areas of business, specialized industry and government careers.
Even if you are not a high school grad or have not passed the GED proficiency examination, we can help. As long as you are an adult (18 years of age and older), you are eligible for admission. No prior computer experience is required and we maintain open enrollment throughout the year. We offer GED preparation to prepare you to take the formal GED exam.

Classroom training varies from 15-26 weeks in duration, and our Information Technology training is open-entry/open-exit. Depending upon the course selected and level of competency, students with previous training, education, or work experience may be able to accelerate their pace and training completion time. The State of California's Bureau for Private Postsecondary and Vocational Education provides approval for the vocational courses offered at ICS. "Approval to operate" means that we are in compliance with minimum state standards and does not imply any endorsement or recommendation by the state or by The Bureau for Private Post Secondary and Vocational Education. A Certificate of Completion is awarded for the successful fulfillment of program requirements. Our program is funded, in part, by the City of Berkeley and through collaboration with the Federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA).

Services
Our instructors and staff are uncommonly committed to delivering quality training along with essential support services. We pride ourselves in providing an educational standard of excellence in post-secondary education. ICS offers a variety of financial aid programs. To qualify and maintain eligibility for local, state and federal financial assistance, students must meet satisfactory academic requirements. Qualifying students may be eligible for tuition-free training, counseling, career enhancement workshops and lifetime job placement assistance. In some cases, childcare and transportation stipends are also provided.
